Cleaning is the single most common reason deposits get reduced. The good news is that it is also the most preventable, because the standard is written down: the property should be returned in the condition it was let, allowing for fair wear and tear.
Kitchen — where inspections start
- Oven, grill pan, racks and extractor filter degreased
- Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and wiped inside
- All cupboards emptied and cleaned inside and out
- Worktops, splashbacks, sink and taps descaled
- Bin cleaned inside, floor washed including edges
Bathrooms
- Limescale removed from taps, shower screen, tiles and grout
- Toilet cleaned including the base and behind the pan
- Extractor fan cover dusted, mirrors polished streak-free
- Plugholes cleared, sealant wiped down
Everywhere else
- Skirting boards, door frames, handles and light switches wiped
- Windows cleaned inside, sills and tracks cleared
- Carpets vacuumed to edges; hard floors mopped
- Cobwebs removed from ceiling corners and light fittings
- All personal items and rubbish removed from the property
Do it yourself, or book it
A full move-out clean on a two-bedroom property realistically takes a day of focused work with the right products. If you are also packing, moving and handing back keys on the same weekend, it is worth booking the clean and spending your time elsewhere.
We work to this checklist on every move-in and move-out job, so the property is inspection-ready when we leave.
